Bill co-founded Thompson Davis & Co. in 2002 and has served as its CEO ever since. He is an active portfolio manager at the firm and also serves on its board of directors.

Bill’s investment management career began in 1990 as an institutional research analyst at Branch Cabell & Co. It was there he developed the fundamental criteria he would use to create a research team focused on discovering companies overlooked by the Wall Street analyst community. In 1994, Bill became a partner and managing director of Branch Cabell and directed the institutional research effort there until 2000, when the firm was acquired by Tucker Anthony and subsequently by RBC Dain Rauscher. Bill remained a managing director of institutional research and small-cap asset management under RBC. 

Bill earned an undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech University with a concentration in Economics and Finance. An avid Virginia Tech fan, he lives in Midlothian, Virginia, with his wife and children.
